Lucky Duck Trail Race
Middle Tennessee’s newest trail race, on Henry Horton State Park’s fast, runnable trails along the biologically diverse Duck River. Two distances: a trail half marathon (~13.1 mi) or a 4-mile race. Relatively flat for a trail course — built for runners who want trail miles without the kind of endless climbing that turns some trail races into all-day projects.

Three things to know.
Two distances, same fast trail
Choose your day: the 13.1-mile half or a 4-mile trail race. Both run on the same relatively flat, runnable trails — built for runners who want trail miles without the climbing that turns most trail races into all-day projects.
Fall in Middle TN is the move
October 10 puts you right in the window when mornings feel like jacket weather and afternoons feel like a vacation. Color on the trees, dry trail under foot.
A park worth showing up to
Henry Horton is one of Tennessee’s most underrated state parks, set along the biologically diverse Duck River. Show up, run hard, hang at the park afterward — that’s the whole pitch.
The course
Fast trail, fair miles.
Both distances at Lucky Duck run on Henry Horton State Park’s soft-surface trails — a mix of single-track and double-track, rolling and runnable, and relatively flat for a trail course. Pick your distance: the 13.1-mile half marathon or the 4-mile race. Both are built for runners who love being on trail but don’t want their day turning into an ultra disguised by endless climbing. You can truly rip through these woods.
There are long, buttery runnable stretches balanced with enough technical terrain — roots, rocks, quick footing changes — to keep you honest. PR-friendly if that’s what you’re after, but a fun day in the forest regardless.
Both courses start and finish at Henry Horton’s multi-sport area, with aid stations at key points throughout and a clearly flagged route start to finish.
